FOR IMMEDIATE  RELEASE

April 26, 2018

In celebration of Earth Day, the Ideal Green Market Cooperative sponsored an indoor farmer’s and crafter’s market at the Ideal Township Hall on Saturday April 21st.   With temperatures into the 60’s a winter weary community came to support the Ideal Green Market Cooperative and local vendors and crafters.

“This event is important to local farmers, crafters, artisan bread bakers and others who depend on our local community to help them gain an economic foothold in our area”, stated Bonnie Coffey, Ideal Green Market Cooperative board president.  “From this turnout today, I know our community wants to support these entrepreneurs and the Ideal Green Market Cooperative”, stated Coffey.

Activities included Charisma the ‘counting horse’ with Lavonne Nikkari of Wadena, an Earth Day education and activity corner for children and an “Ask the Master Gardner”  information table hosted by DeAnn Caddy of the Crow Wing Master Gardeners organization.  Live music was presented by ”From the Heart” - Gary and Kelsi Stacken.

Many of the vendors present use or recycle items to create decorative items for home and garden.  Items such as bird feeders made from dried gourds and empty coffee cans, repurposed hand painted ceramic tiles made into trivets, handmade jewelry, cutting boards, beeswax candles, nature jewelry, handmade soaps & personal care products for health and wellness, and more. The Ideal Green Market featured products that can be reused such as market baskets and bags, re-useable parchment paper, Swedish dish clothes and 100% organic cotton tee shirts  and hand knit cotton dishcloths.

A full list of vendors at this event can be found on the Ideal Green Market Cooperative website www.idealgreenmarket.com. The summer Farmers’ Market begins Saturday, May 19, 9am-1pm and runs every Saturday through the end of September.  New vendors who meet the guidelines are welcome. The co-op is open to all shoppers Wednesdays-Fridays, 10am-6pm, and Saturdays, 9am-3pm.
