New Board Members & Farmers Market

The Ideal Green Market Co-op hosted its second annual member-owner meeting recently and elected new Board members: Steve Roe of Crosslake, Bonnie Coffey of Pequot Lakes, and Mike Winkels of Crosslake!  Each of them bring skills and experiences that will aid in the co-op’s continued development keeping at the fore the mission of providing access to local, sustainable, and healthy food and products. They join current Board members: Jason Baca, Geoff Davidge, John Plein, and Abbie Schramm, and replace out-going Board members: John Ehlert, Dan Kayser, and Dan Yavner.

Coffey stated, “IGMC as a wonderful community asset. Not only does it offer fresh wholesome foods, but it also acts as a conduit for community involvement and getting to know one another.  I look forward to serving as we look to the future to keep and expand the IGMC making it a great resource for healthy living, and connecting to one another.”

The consumer demand for “clean”, healthy, sustainable food is driving the growth of the co-op as they continue to fulfill their mission for the members as well as for the broader community, being open to all shoppers. Efforts are in motion as well to offer SNAP/EBT to those persons currently qualified and enrolled in receiving those services in meeting their food needs. This service is currently offered for purchases at the Saturday farmers’ markets.

The seasonal farmers market is in full swing for the second year and is hosted at the co-op site in the parking lot every Saturday, 9am-1pm through October 1.  Local vendors currently feature fresh greens & produce in season (lettuces, romaine, Asian greens, radishes, kohlrabi, peas); meats including pork, chicken, beef; fresh bread, baked goods & donuts; chaga -tea/tinctures/lotions; fresh milled flours; honey; maple syrup; wild foraged greens and roots for good health; sunflower oil; plants - vegetables, flowers and perennials; goat milk soaps; goat cheese starting July 2; and arts/crafts.  The growers and vendors enjoy meeting with customers and sharing their passion for providing good food and local products.

Additional vendors are welcome at the farmers’ market as space is available. Limited space is available to artists/crafters as well.  Registration forms and information are available on the website (click to download), or you can contact Barb Mann, farm market manager, at
Education is a large part of any co-op and Ideal Green Market offers that in many forms including the farmers’ market, knowledgeable staff, and local farm vendor tours are in the works with information to come.

The co-op continues its development and is open to the public Tuesdays-Saturdays, 9am-6pm, Thursdays til 8pm. OPEN TO ALL SHOPPERS, you don't have to be a member to shop. Located in Ideal Corners at the juncture of County Road 16 and County Road 39 (next to the Old Milwaukee Club) at 34988 County Road 39, Pequot Lakes.

The Ideal Green Market Cooperative is currently at 187 members and continues to accept member-owners as they build on the dream to provide access to local, sustainable and healthy food and products.  The benefit of membership is in owning and creating this local food system, discounts on product and classes, and eventually receiving patronage refunds at the end of profitable years of operation.

There are many ways to be involved with both the co-op and the farmers’ market. It’s about working together to create a more sustainable local food system. For more information, visit, email Brenda Myers, General Manager at, or call 218-543-6565.
