SUCCESSFUL Community Meeting - Ideal Green Market

Good Morning & Celebrate!

30+ community members gathered last night at the Ideal Green Market store celebrating the work of the Steering Committee and making the commitment to continue to realize the vision.

The vision/dream of creating the Ideal Green Market Cooperative has taken a huge step forward with the establishment of an Incorporating Board to implement next critical steps of development!  Congratulations and THANK YOU to those who stepped forward and committed to serve on behalf of the community:  Jason Baca, Vanessa Bye, Geoff Davidge, John Ehlert, Dan Kayser, Kim Larson, John Plein, Eleanor Rice, & Dan Yavner. AWESOME!  The first Board Meeting is set for Wednesday, Jan. 21, 6pm-7:30pm at the co-op store.

The other critical task was setting a date for a Membership Launch for the co-op: Mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 17, 6pm, most likely at the Ideal Corners Community Center/Town Hall. (watch for details)

A proposed budget and membership structure (see below) was presented by Barb Mann, new co-op coordinator, thanks to the hard work of the Steering Committee (Primarily: Judy and Ron Kidder, Mary and John Plein, Eleanor Rice, Dan Yavner with other support persons along the way over the past 9 months).  These proposals are based on numerous assumptions as a way to evaluate success and serves as a launch point for the Board to now evaluate details and make fiscally responsible decisions. Another goal is to set an Annual Meeting for sometime in June 2015 to vote on By-laws, and Board of Directors.

The Steering Committee had also created a financial pro forma based on certain assumptions for operations, timeline and membership structure with the assistance of the Small Development Center of Central Lakes College.  It will serve as a good base from which the Incorporating Board can review and make decisions to realizing the vision of a member owned and controlled food co-op in Ideal Corners, making local goods available to the community.

We look forward to growing. Be watching for further developments and feel free to stop in to the store during office hours Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am-2pm when I'll be around to visit.  PLEASE NOTE:  the retail store is not yet up and running.  We are a step closer and we are hopeful.

See you round! AND THANKS AGAIN TO THE STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBERS FOR A JOB WELL DONE!  AND TO THE NEW INCORPORATING BOARD MEMBERS! AND TO THE ALL OF YOU FOR DREAMING A GOOD DREAM!  We're off and running!
