Irises for Sale at Ideal Farmers Market

Irises for sale in quart and pint containers at the Ideal Farmers Market, Saturday May 23, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. As a fundraiser for the Co-op, all donations from the irises will go to the Co-op.

Fresh Grown Produce

  • Fresh Asparagus, Organic from Azure Husbandry – good quantities are being picked now and each bundle is 3 lbs. These substantial stalks are actually very tender.
  • Heirloom Sweet Meat Squash, Organic from Azure Husbandry - (3-4 lb. cut) taste this winter squash before this season's supply is gone. And, leftover squash makes wonderful "pumpkin" pies or cakes.

Mujadara recipe

Mujadara, a traditional Middle Eastern dish of lentils and rice. I made this for the Taste of Ideal gathering last Thursday at the Ideal Green Market, It was the first time I'd tried this recipe. Happily, it was well received. Click here for the recipe. I made some substitutions but this is a recipe I want to try again soon. Everyone commented on the warm spices. I think harvest time is in the air!
